Did you know that Haak is the only working winery in Galveston County? Our vineyards and winery offer you a great opportunity to see how our wines are grown and produced right here in Santa Fe, Texas. We invite you to come down and visit us, take a tour, taste our wines and browse our gift shop--you won't be disappointed.

Tours are $5 per person (children under 21 are free) and includes a tasting of 4 wines.
VIP Tours are $15 per person and includes a logo glass and a tasting of 7 wines.

A Nod to Nadia

We're proud to announce the recent promotion of Nadia Hetzel from Assistant Winemaker to Winemaker. Nadia will now oversee wine production as well as vineyard management. 

Nadia has been Haak's Assistant Winemaker for two years, serving in various roles to facilitate the production of our 15 varietals of wine. Prior to coming to the U.S., she worked at Hotel Kloster Johannisberg in Germany as a sommelier for five months, and the Schloss Johanissberg in Germany as a winemaking intern for six months. Nadia received her diploma from the University of Geisenhem in Germany in enology and viticulture. She is also a German State Certified Vintner.
David's Recipe of the Month

Make a little something special for your Valentine with Chef David's Easy Chocolate Truffles.

Haak Madeira Chocolate Truffles

8 oz. of semi-sweet chocolate (the best you can afford, Belgium Celebrant is what we use.)
3/4 cup of heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
2 tablespoons of Haak Madeira (Jacques or Blanc du Bois)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup of cocoa powder

Chop chocolate into small pieces no larger than one inch in size and place into a mixing bowl. Heat cream and butter in a sauce pan to a simmer. Remove from heat and pour over the chocolate. Add salt and Madeira. Stir until all the chocolate has melted, it needs to be smooth and shinny. Let cool and harden enough to shape into balls. Scoop the chocolate using a spoon or disher, and roll into one-inch balls using the palms of your hands. Take the balls and roll them in the cocoa powder to coat them. Remember these are called truffles because finished they resemble the actual truffle from the ground. The cocoa powder will cover most of the imperfections of the rolling process. They are delicious and I am sure everyone will enjoy them!
