Venue and Facility Questions

What does “exclusive use” mean? At what time is the “exclusive use” initiated for my wedding?

The Haak Wedding Contract provides for the exclusive use of our property and facility 2 hours prior to the wedding and until the conclusion of the clean up hour. We will close the property to the general public and only our tasting room will remain open until the end of the normally scheduled business hours of the day.

What time is the Bridal Dressing area available?

The Bridal Dressing area is available at 9am the day of your wedding and must be cleaned by the conclusion of your reception.

What tables are used for the guest seating and the food service?

The event staff will set the 5-foot rounds with 4, 6 or 8 chairs for your guest dining and the 6-foot rectangular tables will be used for the food service, gift tables, wine service, etc.

What types of linens are provided?

The winery provides a restaurant quality linen tablecloths, chaircovers or self-tying chaircovers, and napkins with our wedding package (up to 150 people). Color choices are available but limited. Slip-on chaircovers are provided with the linen package. Ask our Event Manager for details.

Does the winery provide wedding planning services?

The Haak Winery event staff members are not wedding planners and will not act as such.

Wine and Other Alcohol Questions

Does the winery allow other alcohol to be served?

Haak Winery is under strict regulation policy by the TABC, which states no other alcohol or wine, with the exception of beer in keg form, can be served on the premises. This is allowed only at weddings. A separate beer use contract is required if beer is to be consumed on premises.

How many kegs can we provide for our guests?

One keg per every 75 people.

What do we need to provide with the beer service? When can the beer be delivered? Picked up?

If you decide to have beer at your wedding, a TABC certified server from the Winery Staff will be assigned to your keg for the duration of the wedding. The server will serve the beer.

The kegs cannot be relinquished to the possession of the winery staff; someone from your party must be on the premises when kegs are delivered and /or set up, the duration of time the kegs are on the property and must facilitate the removal of the kegs.

Can my guest consume beer and wine throughout the property?

Beer or wine may not be consumed in the parking lot; no beer can be taken into the tasting room or restrooms. Any guest found in possession of liquor, beer in-can or a bottle of other wine, will be asked to surrender it to Winery Staff until the conclusion of your event. If the guest is not cooperative, they may be asked to leave the winery property.

DECORATING AND DECORATION QUESTIONS

What decorations are provided? When can we decorate?

There are no decorations provided and you may begin decoration at 9am on the day of your wedding.

What decorations are allowed?

The only decorations prohibited are:

  • No fireworks of any kind, other than sparklers with prior approval from the event staff;
  • Artificial flower petals and confetti; and
  • Glitter or small dye cuts.
Can I hang decorations?

All elevated decorations (those that require the use of a ladder) must be hung and taken down by Winery Staff. An additional fee of $150 for the first two hours and $50 per hour after that will be charged for this service.

Does the contract provide for the cleanup of decorations?

You are responsible for the cleanup of all decorations that you plan to keep, and it must be complete 1 hour after the conclusion of your reception.

CATERING QUESTIONS

Are outside caterers allowed?

Haak Winery does not allow outside catering for food or wedding cakes.

Are there set menus?

Our Executive Chef will discuss all catering options with you.

Is it a plated or buffet service?

The pricing reflected in our wedding package is for a buffet service.

Are there servers provided with the buffet?

Servers are provided with your facility rental agreement and fees.

REHEARSAL AND REHEARSAL DINNER QUESTIONS

When can I have my rehearsal?

Couples are asked to schedule the rehearsal through our event staff at the time of booking the wedding. The rehearsal may take place within the two weeks prior to the wedding as your contract allows for a 1-hour rehearsal.

What would the cost be for a rehearsal dinner?

If you are interested in hosting your rehearsal dinner here, our Executive Chef will discuss menu options with you. The cellar may be rented for $350 with linens provided.

May I serve other alcohol at my rehearsal dinner?

Only Haak wine may be served as your alcoholic beverage at the rehearsal dinner.

Fees and Cancellations Questions

What is the $1000 deposit?

The $1000 deposit is your $500 damage deposit and your $500 catering deposit. The damage deposit is refunded on Monday of the week following your event if there are no damages or losses to the winery, all balances have been paid in full and the alcohol rules of only beer in a keg are followed. The catering deposit is deducted from your total catering bill.

Is the deposit refundable?

Deposit will not be refunded.

Entertainment Questions

What entertainment is allowed? Is there a sound system?

Haak Winery does not have a sound system in the chapel or on our pavilion. However, there is an ample supply of power on the pavilion and patio, and you may contract with a performer for your event. Our staff will discuss with the performer or band the TABC regulations with regard to the base level allowed during their performance.

Miscellaneous Questions

Does the winery have preferred vendors?

Haak Winery does not require guests to use a preferred vendor list. We can provide a list of vendors that have provided services for previous events, if needed.
