White Dessert Wines
2008 Blanc du Bois White Port
A one-of-a-kind white port with aromas reminiscent of vanilla custard, walnuts, whipped cream and white chocolate with a flavor not unlike vanilla wafers, caramel and good southern banana pudding. These grapes were grown along the gulf coast of Texas. The wine was fermented in stainless steel barrels and transferred to oak barrels where they were allowed to age for several years gaining in complexity and character. Serve slightly below room temperature chilling it for approximately 20 minutes beforehand. Enjoy with chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
Awards:
The 2009 Jefferson Cup results are in. This prestigious competition, judged by Master of Wine and Master Sommelier Doug Frost, awarded the 2007 Blanc du Bois with an “American Example of Greatness” medal.
2006 Blanc du Bois Madeira
This Madeira is made from the white grape, Blanc du Bois, and opens up in the glass with aromatic fragrances of dried apricots and peaches covered with caramel. This sensation follows through on the palate with soft, buttery caramel coated apricots and peaches with a soft hint of green tea and fresh lemons.
We are very proud to share with you the tasting notes of Jancis Robinson for our 2006 Blanc du Bois Madeira. The scoring of 15-17 points is in ”superior” range.
Haak, Blanc du Bois 'Madeira' 2006 Texas 15.5 Drink 2009-13
pH 3.43, TA 9.3 g/l, RS 9.1 g/l, 30 months in oak, 174 cases made
Very, very pale copper. Rather stewed/cooked nose. Not as fresh as the other two on the nose and much sweeter and less acid. But quite fresh and zesty on the finish. Certainly better than commercial madeira. 18% Alcohol.
